Internships

Michigan Government Television (MGTV) is looking for dependable and enthusiastic college interns with excellent skills in television production, research and/or writing.


DESCRIPTION:

• serve as production crew on a daily/weekly basis for MGTV on both single and
multiple camera productions.

• serve in the production positions of camera operator, floor director, audio,
graphics, technical director, master control operation, tape dubbing and editing.

• write, research, and gather information necessary for producing programming
or special projects for Michigan Government Television.

• write and record voiceovers for on air use

• assist in the regular maintenance of production equipment and facilities as needed.

• assist in answering the phone and related office duties as necessary.


EQUIPMENT & FACILITIES:

MGTV's facility is located in the Romney Building across from the Capitol in downtown Lansing. Our equipment includes an Avid Editing System, Sony UVW 100 Betacams, Master Control with Grass Valley Master 21 Switcher and a suitcase studio with three remote controlled cameras. The House of Representatives, Senate, Supreme Court and Governor’s Press Room have permanent cameras and control rooms for the purposes of live coverage as well.

SCHEDULING:

Interns must have a minimum of eight hours available per week to work, preferably with at least one full day available and complete half days. Interns are being accepted for all semesters on a volunteer basis or for college credit. The internship can be customized from eight to forty hours per week. Interns are paid a monthly stipend depending on the number of hours they have committed to the internship irregardless of whether the student is receiving
college credit or volunteering. On the job training will be provided by Michigan Government Television Staff.
