(Lansing, Michigan)— Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court Elizabeth Weaver will appear live on MGTV on Monday, October 11, at 1:00 p.m. Justice Weaver will join MGTV executive director Bill Trevarthen on the live phone-in program MGTV In Depth.
High school students in two locations will be able to participate in the program via compressed video and cable. Students from Marlette High School and their teacher Ken Babich will join in a question and answer session with Chief Justice Weaver using compressed video during the first portion of the one-hour program. They will also be able watch the entire program on cable television thanks to MGTV's carriage on Adelphia Cable (formerly Harron Communiciations), which serves Michigan's Thumb.
In the second portion of the program, students at Byron Center and their teacher Richard Giesel will participate in the program using compressed video. They'll be watching the program on cable thanks to AT&T Cable Services, which serves the Greater Grand Rapids area.
"This will be the first time we have incorporated compressed video technology into one of our live programs," said MGTV executive director Bill Trevarthen. "Interactive technology will make this a very exciting educational experience for the students involved and for our viewers in general."
MGTV's cable viewers may also phone in questions to Chief Justice Weaver at (517) 483-7479 during the program. MGTV’s programming reaches over a million and half households on cable television systems across the state of Michigan.
Michigan Government Television, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation, is a public affairs initiative of Michigan’s cable television industry.
