Distance Learning project
(Lansing, Michigan)—Willow Run High School (WRHS), Comcast and Washtenaw Intermediate School District (WISD) have joined forces with Michigan Government Television (MGVT) to present MGTV Forum: Meet Michigan's Attorney General. Attorney General Michael Cox will join MGTV host Bill Trevarthen for the one-hour live program on Monday, October 27, 2003, at 1:00 p.m.
Through the educational outreach of Comcast and MGTV, students from Willow Run High School will participate live in the program via compressed video technology. The Willow Run HS students will ask questions and join in a discussion of the attorney general's role in state government and the current issues Attorney General Cox and his staff are dealing with. This distance learning project is made possible through the compressed video technology of Washtenaw Intermediate School District (WISD), WRHS, and MGTV.
"Distance learning technology allows us to put students from remote locations right into live shows with Michigan's top-ranking leaders," said MGTV executive director Bill Trevarthen.
"As one of the founders of MGTV and one of its major supporters, Comcast is thrilled to be a partner in this project bringing students and government leaders together," added Maria Holmes, corporate affairs director for Comcast.
MGTV's cable television viewers may also join the live show by phoning in their questions to the attorney general. The number to call is (517) 483-7479.
